J&K Bank CGM meets Ladakh Chief Secretary Discusses financial inclusion, affordable credit and entrepreneurship promotion Reaffirming the institutional commitment to the socio-economic development of Ladakh, J&K Bank Chief General Manager (DIC) Sunit Kumar called on Chief Secretary, UT of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra and Commissioner/Secretary Finance Tsewang Tharchin to discuss measures for strengthening financial inclusion, expanding access to affordable credit and promoting entrepreneurship across the Union Territory. Zonal Head Tsewang Dorjai and Cluster Head Tsewang Dorjay accompanied the Chief General Manager during the interactions. The discussions focused on wider coverage of financial inclusion and social-security schemes, particularly among government employees and other eligible beneficiaries. The UT Administration assured the Bank of the necessary institutional support for expanding enrolment under these schemes. Highlighting the Bank’s efforts to improve access to institutional finance, the Chief General Manager reiterated Bank's commitment to supporting farmers, small entrepreneurs and MSMEs through government-sponsored and Bank-specific schemes. The Bank’s Agri Term Loan—designed with simple eligibility criteria and minimal documentation - was also discussed as an effective means of meeting the credit requirements of farmers and other small borrowers. The two sides deliberated upon the UT’s industrial policy and agreed to work closely to facilitate seamless flow of credit to eligible enterprises. The Bank assured that relevant changes introduced by the Administration would be suitably incorporated into its operational guidelines wherever required. The proposed introduction of a start-up and entrepreneurship programme in Ladakh, broadly modelled on Mission YUVA in Jammu and Kashmir, was also discussed. The Bank expressed its readiness to support prospective entrepreneurs through suitable financing solutions, thereby contributing to employment generation and the growth of local enterprise. It was further agreed to organise a Loan Mela in coordination with the Industries and Finance Departments to connect entrepreneurs, farmers and MSMEs with appropriate government schemes and credit facilities. The discussions also underlined the importance of engaging local talent to deepen the Bank’s connect with the people and strengthen its responsiveness to Ladakh’s distinct financial requirements. #JKBank #JKBank
